Detailed Itinerary Manu National Park 3-Day Tour | Cultural Zone Special

Your adventure begins with an early morning departure from Cusco in our comfortable private vehicle. As we leave the historic city behind, we will traverse beautiful Andean valleys and pass through picturesque countryside communities.

Along the route, we will make strategic stops to explore fascinating pre-Inca tombs belonging to the Lupaca culture, followed by a visit to Paucartambo, a charming colonial town where we will tour its interesting local museum.

After enjoying a scenic lunch surrounded by nature, we will begin our breathtaking descent through the lush Manu Cloud Forest. This pristine ecosystem is world-renowned for its high density of endemic species; with a bit of luck, we may spot the rare Spectacled Bear or witness the striking courtship dance of the Cock-of-the-Rock, Peru's vibrant national bird.

The forest canopy is also a paradise for botany lovers, showcasing an incredible variety of wild orchids, bromeliads, and giant ferns. After a day filled with spectacular scenery and wildlife sightings, we will arrive at our comfortable lodge, Pilcopata Inn, to relax and spend our first night in the jungle.

  • Meals: Lunch, Dinner.

We will start the day with a delicious early breakfast before heading out to visit a traditional local coca plantation and a dedicated wildlife rescue center, where you will learn about regional conservation efforts. Following these visits, our journey continues by ground to Atalaya Port, a strategic harbor situated along the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River at 500 meters above sea level. Here, we will board our motorized riverboat and begin our descent down the river. During the cruise, you will observe an enormous diversity of river birds, including herons, vultures, and cormorants flying across the Amazonian sky.

Upon arriving at the Amazon Manu Lodge, we will be welcomed with a tasty lunch featuring local ingredients. In the afternoon, we will embark on an exciting hike through the jungle trails toward the beautiful Machuwasi Lake. Once there, we will ride on traditional balsa rafts to explore the wetlands. This is the perfect setting to spot the primitive and exotic hoatzin birds, as well as caimans, monkeys, and capybaras resting along the shores. As dusk falls, we will head back to the lodge to enjoy dinner and spend a peaceful night surrounded by the authentic sounds of the rainforest.

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner.

An early morning start takes us back to the river. We will board our boat before dawn and head straight to the spectacular Macaw Clay Lick, a unique mud wall along the riverbank. Every morning, different species of colorful parrots—such as the blue-headed parrot, white-eyed parakeet, and chestnut-fronted macaw—gather here in a vibrant natural spectacle. They eat the mineral-rich clay, which helps them digest their food and neutralize toxins from their daily diet.

After witnessing this incredible event, we will return to the lodge for a hearty breakfast. Afterward, we will pack our bags and take the boat back to Atalaya Port, where our private bus will be waiting to drive us back up the Andes. We will enjoy a relaxing lunch along the route while taking in the changing landscapes. The journey concludes as we arrive back in the city of Cusco at approximately 6:30 PM, marking the end of an unforgettable Amazonian experience.

  • Meals: Breakfast, Lunch.
