Day 1: Cusco (3,535 m.a.s.l.) – Pilcopata Inn (700 m.a.s.l.)
Departing early from Cusco, you will travel through Andean valleys and rural communities, visiting the pre-Inca tombs of the Lupaca culture and the colonial town of Paucartambo. After lunch in the cloud forest, you will descend through an area rich in biodiversity, spotting orchids, ferns, and wildlife like the spectacled bear and the Andean cock-of-the-rock before spending the night at Pilcopata Inn.
Day 2: Pilcopata – Amazon Manu Lodge (450 m.a.s.l.) & Caiman Spotting
After an early hike to spot wildlife, you will visit a coca plantation and a rescue center before heading to Puerto Atalaya. From there, a scenic boat ride along the Alto Madre de Dios River lets you observe diverse bird species. After arriving at Amazon Manu Lodge, you will have lunch, visit a wetland to spot toucans and macaws, and enjoy a night activity searching for caiman eyes before dinner.
Day 3: Amazon Manu Lodge – Parrot Clay Lick & Lake Machuwasi
Early in the morning, a boat ride takes you to the macaw clay lick to see various parrot species feeding on mineral-rich clay. After breakfast, enjoy a 2 to 3-hour forest hike. In the afternoon, you will explore Lake Machuwasi on local rafts to spot the prehistoric hoatzin, monkeys, and capybaras, followed by an exciting optional zip-lining adventure and a night walk looking for insects and amphibians.
Day 4: Amazon Manu Lodge – Deep Jungle Hike & Flora Exploration

After lunch, you will continue trekking to discover the rich Amazonian flora and learn about local medicinal plants. The evening concludes with a delicious dinner at the lodge, with an optional kayaking activity available during the day.
Day 5: Atalaya Hot Springs – Return to Cusco
After breakfast, you will enjoy a relaxing swim in the Atalaya hot springs before boarding the boat back to Puerto Atalaya. There, your private vehicle will be waiting to drive you back to Cusco. The journey includes lunch along the route, with an estimated arrival time in the city between 5:30 PM and 6:30 PM.
Detailed Itinerary Manu Jungle Tour 4-Day | Adventure
We will leave Cusco very early in the morning in one of our private vehicles, traversing interesting Andean valleys and picturesque rural communities. Along the route, we will visit the pre-Inca tombs of the Lupaca culture.
Next, we will stop in Paucartambo, a beautiful colonial town, to visit its interesting town museum. En route, we will enjoy a delicious lunch surrounded by the pristine nature of the cloud forest.
We will then continue our descent through the cloud forest, an area exceptionally rich in endemic species, such as the spectacled bear and the Andean cock-of-the-rock (Peru's national bird, famous for its unique courtship ritual). We will also spot exotic orchids, bromeliads, and ferns before arriving at Pilcopata Inn for our first night.

After an early breakfast, we will go on a morning hike to observe forest wildlife, such as monkeys and birds. Afterward, we will visit a local coca plantation and a wildlife rescue center.
Next, we will travel to Puerto Atalaya, located on the banks of the Alto Madre de Dios River (500 m.a.s.l.). Here, we board our motorized boat to enjoy a scenic river descent, spotting a diverse range of birds like herons, vultures, and cormorants until we arrive at Amazon Manu Lodge.
Upon arrival, we can swim in the refreshing river and have a traditional lunch. In the afternoon, we will explore a local wetland to observe beautiful toucans, woodpeckers, and macaws. In the evening, before dinner, we will take part in an exciting activity to look for caiman eyes shining in the dark.

Very early in the morning, we will board our boat to visit the parrot clay lick. This riverbank wall is a gathering point every morning for various species, including the blue-headed parrot, white-eyed parakeet, and chestnut-fronted macaw, who eat mineral-rich clay to digest food and eliminate toxins. We will then return to the lodge for breakfast.
Following breakfast, we will embark on a 2 to 3-hour forest hike. After returning for lunch, you can relax or swim in the river. In the afternoon, we will visit Machuwasi Lake, exploring on traditional rafts to spot prehistoric hoatzin birds, monkeys, and capybaras.
The day ends with an immersive night walk through the forest looking for insects and amphibians before heading back for dinner.

Our guests have the opportunity to experience a breathtaking view of the jungle as they fly through the rainforest canopy between high tree platforms. All safety equipment is of professional quality. After gliding at high speed through the treetops, you will finish the adventure with a 25-meter rappel down to the ground.
We will wake up early to enjoy our breakfast and observe multiple species of vibrant hummingbirds, providing a perfect opportunity for photography. Afterward, we will start a deep 4-hour morning hike through pristine forest areas to appreciate the local flora and fauna.
After having lunch at the lodge, we will continue our trekking exploration. Along the way, our professional guide will introduce us to the incredible world of Amazonian medicinal plants. We will return to the lodge for dinner and spend our last night in the jungle.
